Grade 12 Official leave
23rd October 2023 was a bittersweet day for the staff and Grade 12 learners, class of 2023.
The Grade 12 learners were given official leave from their daily tuition at school to stay at home and prepare for their final examination. The day began with the Grade 12 Awards Ceremony. The award recipients were selected based on the Third term results (SBA & Trial Examination). There was so much excitement and cheers in the school hall as learners watched friends and classmates collect awards for the Top student in each subject, the Top 10 in the Grade, the Most Improved learners in each class and for Leadership as RCL members.
This was followed by each learner being presented with their official Examination timetable and also gifted with a transparent Meerco pencil case from the school.
The Grade 12 learners then proceeded to their respective classes where they engaged in the traditional “writing on their shirts”. The day ended when each Grade 12 class educator treated their respective classes with either lunch or sweet treats.
The Staff was sad to see our ‘children’ go but we knew sooner or later that we would have to let go as the children under our care and tutelage will get their ‘wings and need to fly’
So our wish to every one of the Grade 12 learners of 2023, “our ‘children’ now that you have your wings, SOAR as high as you can go, and reach for the stars and beyond.
Excel in the preparation of your studies, correct all the mistakes you have made in the trials so you can confidently write every one of your final NSC exam papers. We are 100% behind you and we believe that everyone you will make yourself, your parents and Umbilo Secondary proud of your achievements.
Remember, fate, sacrifice and hard work.
